HERIZEN™ Sailing for Women offers an interesting, challenging, fun and exciting chance to deliver a beautiful classic sailing boat from Nantucket Island along the US Eastern Seaboard to Hilton Head, South Carolina  / Savannah, Georgia.

We will sail aboard one of the World’s Best Sailing Boats, the Hinckley Bermuda 40.  An eye catching sailing boat, built with class, comfort and safety.  Magic was first launched in the spring of 1978, she is a MK III keel / centerboard Bermuda 40 sloop with superior wood craftmanship and is exceptionally cared for.

The owner is Catherine Allport, a HERIZEN™ Sailing for Women grad that is now the steward and owner of the this beautiful sailing boat.

Join me Capt. Valma Brenton and Catherine aboard the SV “Magic” as we depart from Nantucket Island, south of Cape Cod, Massachuetts, one of the most beautiful of the East Coast yachting destinations.  Clear waters, scenic beaches and plenty of activities await us.  Sightseeing on Nantucket Island includes the Great Point Light, a stone tower that marks the spot where the original Nantucket Lighthouse was built in 1784. The Brant Point light is another historic lighthouse, built in 1746 and is still in operation today.  Explore tightly knit, cobbled streets where hundreds of grand homes were built by ship’s captains in the 1700’s.  Then visit the Whaling Museum for an up close look at the sperm whale’s entire skeleton.

We depart the Nantucket shores to make our way south through Martha’s Vineyard and many other beautiful scenic locations along the way.

Depending on weather, our sail plan will take us along the Eastcoast Intercoastal Waterway or sailing offshore on the vast Atlantic Ocean waters.  We will change our course to suite our pleasure and suitable weather forecast conditions.

One of our main stops will be the Chesapeake Bay, which is well-known as an outstanding waterway for sailboat cruising. Protected waters, great anchorages, gorgeous natural scenery, unique towns and villages, and a forgiving bottom make the Chesapeake an excellent choice for sailors, novice and expert alike. Historic Annapolis, the crown jewel of the Mid-Atlantic, is the best sailing destination on the East Coast, and is the perfect place for us to enjoy before we continue to our final destination of Hilton Head, South Carolina or Savannah, Georgia.

This Nantucket to Georgia women sailing experience objective is to deliver Magic to a secure marina where Magic can remain during the hurricane season.  She will await for suitable weather so that she may carry on to her next adventure further south to the Bahamas or across the Atlantic to the Carribbean waters.
